This is a utility to help crossword puzzle fans process the New York Times' .puz files if they're having trouble with Across Lite. My mods now allow it to process all of Litsoft's test cases, so it may work on yours.

The .puz file's 4-digit scramble key, if needed and you know it:

Trouble with Across Lite is likely, considering that's a 10+ year old binary - So much for the NYT's claim to being current. Try www.litsoft.com for one that's still at least 4 major versions out of date relative to current C++ libraries, and doesn't work either. Maybe they'll answer my email for a newer one in a few years, but until then, here you go.

Litsoft has already commented on their crossword format in a public forum.
