Paradigm Acceptance

Exposure

For any new technology to succeed, the prospective audience must be exposed to it. Two key channels for exposure deserve attention. First, the pioneers of the technology must evangelize, spreading the word about the new marvel to any who will listen. Second, some fraction of the newly indoctrinated must adopt the new technology personally, acting as testimonial witnesses to others, At this point, these new adopters are effectly pioneers as well, and some fraction of them will likely evangelize as are the original pioneers, and so on.

Demand

All of these evangelization-capture prospective adopters will need access to the technology in order to actually adopt. This creates demand for the technology, demand fuels profits, and profits tend to motivate the original pioneers to further evangelize.

Generational Acceptance

Although such adoption may permeate a significant chunk of the population, it is usually the case that the younger adopt earlier, and that eventually a generation will come that never new a world that didn't possess the technology in question. This generation, by taking the technology for granted, for taking for granted that it should be everywhere, will drive the technology from being merely a cool new thing to a intrinsic aspect of the ongoing culture.
