Box 343 Pinecliffe, CO 80471 (303) 642-3162 Joan Lynch Editorial Director Madavor Media 420 Boylston St., Fifth Floor Boston, MA 02116 Dear Joan, I was referred to you by Marianne Clay regarding possible employment by Madavor Media. I have been a freelance writer for many years. I wrote a weekly feature article and a cooking column for a local newspaper for 5 1/2 years, and most recently have been writing freelance articles for Doll Reader (the September issue's piece on Philip Heath, and the December/January issue's article on Xenis. I have also written many press releases on various subjects, and wrote advertising copy for a television station in the 1960s. I have an Associate Degree in English. In college I did some work in journalism, and had a poetry column in the college newspaper. I also have experience in art, layouts and photography. I effectively publicized and merchandized a large wildlife rehabilitation organization that I founded in 1977in Austin, Texas. Although my career field in most recent years has been real property appraisal (I was a chief appraiser for eleven years), encompassed within the duties and complexities of that job were many aspects that have relevance to writing. Organization, attention to detail and accuracy have been inherent in my work. I am very motivated to perform, and take reponsibility seriously. I am comfortable with multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, and working well under pressure. I have extensive experience in interacting with people, and providing good customer service is something that I place great importance on, and always have taken pride in offering. I'm not knowledgeable on what opportunities may exist with your company, but I would love to do more writing, and possibly get into editorial work. I am sending you a complete resume, and although my main career has been in appraisal for the last few years, I have a broad prior background in many additional skills as well (retail sales, publicity, management, light bookkeeping, public relations) Thank you for your attention and consideration. Sincerely, Pam North
